Manolo Blahnik Turns Legendary Shoe Into A Charm

You'll soon be able to wear your Manolo Blahniks around your neck. Manolo Blahnik and TOUS have announced the launch of an jewelry collaboration featuring the designer's "Campari" shoe. Manolo Blahnik for TOUS will be launched this March in 300 TOUS boutiques world-wide, starting in Mexico and then Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.

The idea for the collaboration began with a fateful encounter. Manolo Blahnik met Rosa Tous at a luncheon in Madrid last summer and commented on the teddy bear pendant she was wearing. She said she would love for him to design a piece for TOUS and the idea was born to use the mary jane shoe 'Campari,' as a charm. Rosa added that the shoe should be dangling from a gold chain with a diamond button. And so began Manolo Blahnik for TOUS.

Reality In Style Offers Simple Clothing Designed To Flatter

You may be wondering why we would promote "simple" clothing when, after all, Luxist is all about luxury and the high end of living. The answer is because sometimes you just want a t-shirt -- or a basic pair of pants, or a simple dress -- that fits, is flattering, and is made of quality material, and you're willing to pay a bit more to get something that will last longer than an item purchased at The Gap.

I recently stumbled upon Reality in Style, which, according to its website, "was created in 2009 by college best friends Denise Apicella and Rachel Blakeman. After several decades of working in various fields, Denise and Rachel were continuously frustrated by the lack of comfortable, stylish and high quality clothing." After some research -- polling real women -- and "after picking up one too many backless shirts, Denise and Rachel decided to create an affordable clothing line emphasizing comfortable fabrics and styles designed to flatter different body types."

I haven't purchased an item from the line, as it doesn't offer petite sizes, but I simply put it out there for those readers who wear what a (former) friend called "grown-up sizes." The dress shown, for example, is called Tony, and is sleeveless stretch-cotton with a pleated belt accent. $395, available in even sizes 0-14.

A. Lange & Sohne Watch Company Rated Best German Luxury Brand, By Germans

Hard (for me) to pronounce German Business magazine Wirtschaftswoche has recently rated watch maker A. Lange & Sohne as the "Top German Luxury Brand." The magazine does a regular ranking (each two years) of Germany's most well known luxury brands which combines everything from fashion houses, to car makers, and of course watch makers.

A. Lange & Sohne beat out companies from every other segment to be the top luxury brand, not merely the top luxury watch brand. The ranking was done through interviews with over 150 industry professionals and participants, and conducted via the Munich based "Brand Rating" agency.

A. Lange & Sohne's highest marks came in the category of "brand appeal." Meaning that people indicated that they personally wanted one, or could see others wanting them (as I speculate the questions to have been like). It should be obvious that when presented with the question, "do you want an A. Lange & Sohne watch?," people were going to say "yes of course." Though, they responded in the affirmative even more so than to questions about Porsche cars, etc... A. Lange & Sohne doesn't need an award like this to be a top luxury brand, but it sure helps remind everyone else.

Jodi Arnold Embellished Duchesse Satin Pocket Top

At times the hot summer weather can subconsciously push you into routine outfit when you are just trying to stay comfortable and not sweat profusely throughout the day. For me, that outfit is either a t-shirt and shorts or a tank top and shorts. I've got to get out of this rut. I came across this Satin Top by Jodi Arnold and thought this would be a more stylish alternative. I am not too sure if satin would be the fabric of choice on a super hot summer day. Although the name - Satin Pocket Top - would leave you to believe that it is made of satin, it is actually 100% cotton, so you are good to go. This cap sleeve top features stone embellishments and side pockets on either side. Price: $308.

The term "luxury car" can apply to autos priced from fairly economical $20,000 options all the way up to the indulgent $400,000 range and higher. It's a large class of vehicles. And although everyone may not agree (with that many cars in the mix there's bound to be varying opinions!) this list is a fun one: Forbes has narrowed the new 2008 luxury releases into their own top 10 most anticipated. St. Maarten Grand Ball Dame Tee
